AGARIMO TEAM + LOCAL THERAPISTS - TRAINING - WORK STARTS - CHILDRENS TREATMENT = IMPROVEMENTS IN MOBILITY & QUALITY OF LIFE

How we Work

Agarimo for Africa arises from the desire to pursue social change by addressing childhood physical disability in underdeveloped countries through early stimulation protocols. At once, it intends to boost the local economy by generating employment wherever the projects are carried out.

AGARIMO TEAM + LOCAL THERAPISTS - TRAINING - WORK STARTS - CHILDRENS TREATMENT = IMPROVEMENTS IN MOBILITY & QUALITY OF LIFE

LOCAL CONTACTS

At the start of each project, local associations are contacted to determine the right place for the project to land.

WORKING WITH LOCAL THERAPISTS

The team at Agarimo will preselect a number of local therapists that will then go through an on-site training process run by Ledicia Pérez, during which treatment guidelines and the latest techniques in childhood therapy will be discussed. Once the training is over, the selected therapists will commence their full time job at the children´s centre.

The therapists' salary will be fully covered by the association during the first year of the program, with the intention that over time a percentage of this salary will come from local government sources and/or local Nonprofit associations. It is crucial for projects to be locally adopted to guarantee their establishment and long term success.

AWARENESS AND LOCAL ACCEPTANCE

One of the objectives of Agarimo for Africa is to raise visibility for childhood disability in countries where it is not currently part of the government agendas. Raising awareness and liasing with local associations and local authorities are vital to guarantee the continuity of the projects in the long term.

FUNDRAISING

The association raises funds through donations and by organizing fundraising events, ranging from concerts to small gastronomic gatherings. One of the future objectives is to become a foundation in order to be eligible for state aid, which would allow us to bring our work to children in more countries.
